"Fireplace Growing Cold" is a remarkable collection of photographs that spans over 40 years of exploration by Morteza Poursmadi, a skilled photographer and cinematographer. Poursmadi accompanied nomadic tribes on their numerous migrations and settlements, bearing witness to their daily lives and capturing moments only someone empathetic and unified with the community could conceive.

Poursmadi has documented a life form that has thrived for a millennium but is now on the verge of extinction. This particular life form has historically played a pivotal role in an ancient country’s economic, social, political, and cultural spheres up until the dawn of the 20th century.

This ethnographic narrative of Iranian nomads is published in two volumes by Vije Negar Publications. The first volume, "From Far," and the second, "From Close," showcase 500 stunning images selected from 4,000 photographs focusing on the nomads' lives in Iran, some of which no longer exist.

The book celebrates the harmonious relationship between nomads and nature, and the monochrome style of the photos adds to the allure of their simple yet resolved way of life. It is designed with clarity and rawness to explore life and the profound style of living. The book is a captivating dance between time, space, nature, and the infinite pursuit of creativity.

Book Launch

Our strategy for promoting the book launch involved social media to raise awareness about the nomadic lifestyle.
We utilized a variety of platforms, including LinkedIn, Twitter, and Instagram, as well as a series of newsletters to highlight individuals who have dedicated their lives to shedding light on this way of life.
Morteza Poursamadi explains in his forward that the primary reason for nomadic migration is their search for “grass” to feed their livestock on natural pastures. Nomads spend winters in tropical areas and summers in cold places. As a result, we chose the colour green for the collateral materials related to the book launch.
